In February,  a strong 6.0 earthquake hit the rural northeastern town of Wells. It damaged hundreds of Nevada homes, rupturing numerous gas and water lines.

But doing some research and studying the history of fault lines in the Tahoe Basin might be a much better indicator of seismicity in the Lake Tahoe region, rather than the most recent earthquake activity in Nevada. While it’s very difficult for scientists to fully understand the seismic cycle of Nevada, some encouraging advancements have been made in understanding seismic activity in the Tahoe Basin, especially along the Incline Village fault line.  Full article
