Upper Eagle Falls

There are two different waterfalls named Eagle Falls – Lower Eagle Falls, and Upper Eagle Falls.

Both of these beautiful waterfalls can be easily reached, off Hwy 89, across from Emerald Bay. You can find a trail to the falls that begins from the  Emerald Bay State Park parking lot. located along highway 89.

It should be noted that no dogs are allowed on the hike trail.

The Lower Eagle Falls is approximately one mile hike down from Lake Tahoe.  The hike will bring you to the sandy white beach in Emerald Bay.  You will also view the impressive Vikingsholm Castle.

Scenic Pope Beach

As you leave South Lake Tahoe heading up the west shore on Hwy 89, you’ll come to a series of beaches that all seem very similar in nature.

The first of these is Pope Beach, which is basically a one mile long by 300 foot wide strip of sand, and separates the Truckee Marsh from Lake Tahoe.

Pope Beach is the longest of all of lake Tahoe’s beaches.

Just because the sun is setting, doesn’t mean skiers and riders need to stop enjoying their day on the slopes. Boreal Mountain Resort is proud to offer improved night lighting this season with runs that are brighter than ever.

Open from top to bottom, Boreal welcomes those with busy schedules well into the evening as their night riding starts at 3:30 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m. With double the number of lights in the lower park and four added lights to Upper Prospector, guests will enjoy access to Boreal’s upper and lower terrain park and halfpipe. Cost for night skiing is $25 for adults and $12 for children ages five through 12.

“We’ve got a great product in our night operations that most of the other resorts in Lake Tahoe don’t offer,” said Jody Churich, general manager for Boreal. “In fact, so far this year we’ve seen a 100 percent increase in night pass sales and our night ticket sales have exceeded our expectations as well.”

2010 Winter Games – U.S. Ski Team Accomplishments

From all accounts, the 2010 Winter Games held in Vancouver – British Columbia, Canada was a huge success.

The United States athletes had a record-breaking and history-making journey at these Olympics. Luxury car-maker Audi, has produced another exclusive, behind-the-scenes video.

Emigrant Trail Museum – Donner Party

The Emigrant Trail Museum at the park is open year round and includes exhibits about the human and natural history of this area.

The Emigrant Trail Museum was completed in 1962 after 15 years of effort by local citizens, park staff and legislators. Open all year, the museum includes exhibits about the natural history of the Truckee Basin, local Native American life, the overland immigration of the 1840s, the Donner tragedy, construction of the transcontinental railroad, lumbering and ice harvesting.
