While area casinos have long been known for their 24-hour restaurants, Café Sedona at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino is looking to establish itself as more than just a coffee shop.
Wayne Clark, the Silver Legacy’s food and beverage director, said he thinks that goal means more than the restaurant’s expanded menu, which includes Asian specialties, steak and lobster, and bourbon short ribs.
“Customers today are so much more knowledgeable about what they expect, and so we give our employees guidance on those expectations and the importance of courtesy and speed of service,” Clark said.
Last spring, the restaurant was remodeled with a Southwestern look, and the menu was enlarged.
“We did keep many of our customers’ old favorites like the hot roast turkey sandwiches, but we’re doing some pretty innovative things like our panini San Francisco, a rock crab salad with tomatoes and Swiss cheese on sourdough bread,” Clark said
Asian selections range from appetizers, soups and rice bowls to seafood and combination plates. Specialties include Cantonese steamed catfish, garlic shrimp and crispy tilapia.
“We really do have some of the best Chinese food in town,” Clark said. “Our rice bowls and big bowls of noodle soups are really popular, as are the combination plates.”
Dessert is an easy personal choice, he said.
“I’d start off with a big, luscious chunk of chocolate fudge cake because we have just an outstanding bakery here, and then there’s the mud pie that’s a brownie topped with coffee ice cream and chocolate ganache,” he said.
Desserts also include a crème brûlée trio of raspberry, dark chocolate and Grand Marnier; a fruit tart; a New York-style cheesecake; a chocolate hazelnut torte; and a sugar-free mango and passion fruit mousse.
